Our Centre Vision and Philosophy
Our Vision
Our Vision is a world in which each human gift will find a fitting place; where Early Childhood is honoured and respected as the most important and vital stage in life, and that within our centre every child, family and teacher will experience and ‘pay forward’ the core ethical values of kindness, honesty, care, responsibility and respect for self, others and nature; and where all who enter will feel empowered to live a life of purpose and authenticity. We believe this forms the basis of our dignity and happiness as human beings, from which all else is learnt.
Our Philosophy
We believe that for children to thrive they must experience a secure and stimulating childhood and to have adults who can provide this for them. All teachers and carers at Deru Creche Kindergarten and Family Centre endeavor to provide this in a joyful environment. Our philosophy is based on the Early Years Learning Framework and “will reinforce in the teacher’s daily practices, the principles laid out in the United Nations Convention on Rights of the Child. The Convention states that all children have the right to an education that lays a foundation for the rest of their lives; maximises their abilities and respects their family, culture and other identities and languages”. The Convention also recognises “children’s right to play and be active participants in all matters affecting their lives” (Early Learning Framework Aust. Gov. Dep of Education). This statement forms the basis of our philosophy, a platform from which our practices and curriculum can employ a broad range of the best theorists and curriculum models, ensuring that every child is granted these rights, regardless of gender, culture, ability or belief.
Our Holistic and Sustainable Philosophy
“Sustainability is the capacity to survive and thrive. While sustainability is often associated with environmental concerns, creating sustainable human futures goes beyond the environment. Sustainable living must promote security, peace, equity, resilience, compassion and care, and enable each human being to have a sense of hope, contribution and meaning”. Quote from the 2016 ‘Global Summit on Childhood’ agenda.
